IT'S MY HONOR TO PRESENT THIS PROCLAMATION TO THE PRESENT POLICE DEPARTMENT WHERE THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION SPONSORS A UNIQUE PROGRAM FROM OCTOBER 3, 2023 TITLED NATIONAL NIGHT OUT WHERE IS THE ANNUAL NATIONAL HIDEOUT PROVIDES AN OPPORTUNITY TO JOIN FORCES IT WITH OTHER COMMUNITIES ACROSS THE COUNTRY AND PROMOTE COOPERATIVE POLICE COMMUNITY CRIME PREVENTION EFFORTS AND WHEREAS IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT CITIZENS OF THE CITY OF MIDLOTHIAN BE AWARE OF THE CRIME PREVENTION PROGRAMS AND THE IMPACT THAT PRECIPITATION CAN HELP IN REDUCING CRIME IN THE CITY. WHERE IS THE CRIME AND SUPPORT AND PARTICIPATION OF LOCAL ANTI-CRIME EFFORTS STRENGTHENING NEIGHBORHOOD SPIRITS AND POLICE COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS WITH SENDING A MESSAGE TO CRIMINALS THAT NEIGHBORS ARE ORGANIZED AND FIGHTING BACK. THESE ARE IMPORTANT FEEDS OF THE NATIONAL NIGHT OUT PROGRAM AND WHEREAS PARTICIPATION MAY BE AS SIMPLE AS TURNING ON THE FRONT PORCH LIGHT ARE PLANNING A NEIGHBORHOOD EVENT FOR OCTOBER 3 2023. WHEN IT WAS NOT EVER DISCUSSED. DURING THE PROJECT PLANNING. I'M FEELING VERY MUCH FROM A CITIZENS PERSPECTIVE THAT IT IS A MONEY GRAB. IN THE CITY TRYING TO BUILD OUR GOVERNMENT. I WOULD ALSO PLEASE CONSIDER NOT SUSPENDING AIRPORT BOARD. IT SETS A VERY BAD PRECEDENT FOR FUTURE OPPORTUNITIES TO SUSPEND BOARDS AT THE CITY 11 OH.

THAT MAKES ME VERY UNCOMFORTABLE. IF THE BE BOARD SUDDENLY IS DOING SOMETHING AND THE CITY DOESN'T LIKE IT. AND THERE IS A LOT MORE MONEY COMING WHO'S TO SAY YOU WON'T JUST DO A RESOLUTION AND GET RID OF THAT BOARD.

I REALLY WANT YOU TO THINK HARD ABOUT WHAT YOU'RE DOING WITH THESE RESOLUTIONS AND WHEN YOU'RE DOING THINGS THAT ARE IMPACTING A BUDGET THAT'S ALREADY BEEN PUT INTO PLACE.

DURING THAT TIME WE HAVE SEEN THE DOWNFALL OF RIDGEVIEW PARK. THE PLAYGROUND IS ALMOST IN DISREPAIR. WE CAN'T GET THE PARTS IT SOLD. EITHER WE GO ARE GOING TO HAVE TO SHUT THE PLAY GROUND DOWN AND SHUT THAT DOWN WHICH TAKES AWAY ANOTHER OPPORTUNITY FOR

THERE'S LAND ON THE PROPERTY THAT WE ARE NOT UTILIZING THAT WOULD BE A REALLY GREAT COMMUNITY PARK SO WE WOULD LIKE TO GO IN AND MOVE OUR VERDICT THAT I LOOK AT IDEAS OF WHAT WE CAN DO TO IMPROVE THAT PARK AND MAKE IT A GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR OUR CITIZENS TO USE.
