HE DID GREAT WORK AND NOW THAT I HAVE TRANSITIONED INTO ANOTHER POSITION, AT MEDINA AT THE BACK OF THE ROOM IS NOW THE SAFETY SECURITY AND NEW COMMANDER OFFICER OF THE SAFETY PROGRAM.

ON THE EVENING OF FRIDAY OCTOBER 23RD 1987, MIDLOTHIAN POLICE OFFICER GEORGE WILLIAM RAYFIELD JUNIOR 21 YEARS OLD WAS MURDERED BY TWO SUSPECTS WHO HAD DISCOVERED HE WAS UNDERCOVER NARCOTICS OFFICER INVOLVED WITH THE POLICE DEPARTMENT. THE TWO LURED HIM TO A REMOTE FIELD ON FM 875, SHOT HIM IN THE BACK OF THE HEAD, AND LEFT HIM TO DIE IN THE CODE WET GRASS UNTIL HE WAS DISCOVERED THE FOLLOWING MORNING AFTER EXTENSIVE SERVICE. OFFICER RAYFIELD IS, THANK GOD, THE ONLY MIDLOTHIAN POLICE OFFICER TO ONLY BEEN MURDERED IN THE LINE OF DUTY. HE SACRIFICED HIS LIFE TO PROTECT PEOPLE OF THIS CITY. HE SURRENDERED ALL HE HAD OR ALL HE EVER WOULD HAVE SO THAT WE COULD SLEEP IN PEACE AT NIGHT IN OUR BEDS. MANY PEOPLE WOULD APPRECIATE AND UNDERSTAND THE RESPONSIBILITY THE POLICE HAVE FOR THE COMMUNITIES THEY SERVE.
HONESTY, TRANSPARENCY, SERVICE, ACCOUNTABILITY, REVERIE, COURAGE, AND MANY OTHER VIRTUOUS TRAITS THAT ALL CITIZENS SHOULD EXPECT AND ALL POLICE SHOULD STRIVE ON SEIZING TO PROVIDE.
