I'M HONORED TO SERVE AS THE MAYOR OF THIS COMMUNITY. I'M HERE TONIGHT TO RECOGNIZE SOME VALUED TEAM MEMBERS AND BOARD MEMBERS THAT HAVE SERVED THIS COMMUNITY WELL FOR A VERY LONG TIME. WE WERE COMING DOWN THE PARADE ROUTE A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO FOR THE CHRISTMAS PARADE AND WE CAME INTO DOWNTOWN AND I LOOKED AROUND AND SAW COMMUNITY. OUR COMMUNITY WAS ALIVE. THERE WAS CHILDREN LAUGHING AND PLAYING, EATING CANDY. DOWNTOWN WAS JUST THRIVING. LARGELY IN PART BECAUSE OF DEDICATED SERVANTS LIKE YOURSELVES THAT HAVE COMMITTED YOUR TIME AND YOUR EFFORTS AND YOUR EXPERTISE TO BUILDING THE BEST QUALITY COMMUNITY THAT WE POSSIBLY CAN. WE WON'T ALWAYS AGREE ON EVERY ITEM THAT COMES FORWARD TO THIS BOARD OR TO MY COUNCIL. AND HOW WE BUILD THE COMMUNITY OUT. PEOPLE WON'T ALWAYS AGREE. HOW WE RESPOND TO ONE ANOTHER, HOW WE ARE NEIGHBORLY TO ONE ANOTHER, HOW WE INTERACT AS WE EXPRESS OUR POSITIONS AND MAKE OUR CASES FOR WHATEVER WE ARE PASSIONATE ABOUT AT THE MOMENT, HOW WE DO THAT MATTERS AND I WANT TO GIVE GREAT KUDOS TO THIS BOARD. YOU HAVE REPRESENTED OUR CITY WELL AND LISTENED TO AND HEARD THE VOICE OF THE PEOPLE VERY WELL. AND I ASSUME YOU WILL TONIGHT AGAIN. AND YOU PROBABLY WILL AGAIN IN JANUARY.
