HE'S ONE OF GREAT MANY FIRST RESPONDERS, AND IT'S A GREAT REPRESENTATION OF THE OTHER POLICE OFFICERS THAT WE HAVE AS WELL, AS FIREMEN AND FIRE WOMEN FOR THE MIDLOTHIAN.

RECENTLY, I'VE BEEN MAKING SOME BRIEF COMMENTS ON THE CONSTITUTION AND PREAMBLE. MY MOTIVATION IS THE EVENTS THAT'S GOING ON IN OUR LIVES, LOCK DOWN AND SOCIAL UNREST AND OTHER PARTS OF THE COUNTRY. ELECTIONS, ESPECIALLY THE ELECTION OF THE PRESIDENT WHICH UNFORTUNATELY HAS A GREAT CHANCE TO GOING TO THE SUPREME COURT AGAIN AND THE NOMINATION TO THE PERSON OF THE SUPREME COURT. LIKELY TO HAVE CIVICS UNFOLDED IN FRONT OF US. MY POINT IS GOING BACK TO BASICS. WHAT IS THE FOUNDATION OF OUR SOCIETY AND HOW WE CONDUCT OURSELVES.

THE POINT TODAY, IS TO FORM A MORE PERFECT UNION.

THERE'S SEVERAL WAYS TO TAKE THE PHRASE.

WE WILL LOOK AT THE HISTORICAL POINT OF VIEW, FIRST.

TO FORM A MORE PERFECT UNION, REFERS TO THE CURRENT CONSTITUTION, IS A SECOND ATTEMPT.

THE FIRST ATTEMPT, THE ARTICLES OF CON FEDERATION FAILED BECAUSE IT WAS TOO WEAK. OUR FIRST GENERATION AMERICANS WERE FEARFUL OF A STRONG CENTRAL GOVERNMENT FOR THE RISK OF THEIR LIBERTIES AND FREEDOMS. SO THE LESSON OUT OF THIS, IF WE HAVE A GOVERNMENT THAT'S TOO WEAK WE'LL BREAK DOWN TO ANARCHY AND WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SURVIVE. ON THE OTHER HAND, IF THE GOVERNMENT IS TOO STRONG, WE RISK LOSING THE LIBERTIES AND FREEDOMS THAT HAVE BEEN WON FOR US.

NOW THE EVENTS THAT I MENTIONED ARE NOT EVENTS THAT WE, THE COUNCIL, STAFF, AND OR THE RESIDENTS COULD DIRECTLY AFFECT.

WE HAVE A CHOICE ON HOW WE RESPOND TO THE MOMENT.

WE CAN RESPOND IN UNITY AND WORKING TOGETHER, OR WE CAN RESPOND DIVIDED. WE HAVE CURTIS JACKSON, IS GOING TO BE LEADING US ON OUR PRAYER. AND AFTERWARDS, MIKE WILL -- MIKE WILL LEAD US IN THE PLEDGES.
